Weatherboard House, Ticehurst

Ticehurst, East Sussex

Stripped and weathered weatherboards on the upper storey of a house in Ticehurst, East Sussex, before restoration

The Challenge

Badly weathered upper-storey boards on a tall property, with old paint stripped away entirely in places and the timber left exposed — a full scaffold job requiring careful board replacement and preparation at height.

What We Did

This substantial house in the village of Ticehurst, East Sussex, had weatherboarding on the upper storey that had failed badly. The old paint had flaked away entirely in places, leaving bare, weathered timber exposed above the red-brick ground floor.

We erected full scaffold to give safe, comprehensive access to the upper elevation. The failed boards were stripped, replaced where necessary, and the whole surface prepared thoroughly before undercoat and top coats were applied for a clean, bright white finish that ties in neatly with the brick and chimney below.
